Notes from a midlife reader: The loneliness of social media
One of the great ironies of being a midlife woman on social media is that I’ve never been more visible and less known.
Every day, I scroll through the lives of hundreds of people. I know whose children graduated, who took a dream vacation to Italy, who remodeled their kitchen, whose spouse is having surgery next week, and who’s training for a marathon. I also know what books they’re reading and what recipes they’re cooking.
And yet, if I’m honest, I don’t feel particularly connected to most of them.
